About the Key Art

Behind the artwork

To all Pokémon Trainers,

We at The Pokémon Company wish for more and more people to feel the excitement that come from the high-level competitive play seen throughout the Championship Series, from players who have their eyes set on the top spot at the World Championships.

We also wish to give more and more players in Asia an opportunity to compete in the Pokémon World Championships – starting with more spots already secured for Worlds 2024. One such opportunity is the Pokémon Championships; and this key art has been conceived with the passion and exhilaration fitting of such a grand occasion.

Character focus

Pokémon Video Game and TCG headliners Pikachu, Ogerpon, Roaring Moon and Iron Valiant are accompanied, for the first time in a Pokémon Championships key art, by human characters.
This girl, holding her Nintendo Switch, and this boy, Pokémon Cards in hand, represent all Pokémon Championships players whose dream they share: to become their region’s Champion!

A word from the artist

It's my huge pleasure to work on this key art since my whole family are Pokémon fans! As an anime and a Japanese culture fan myself, working on Pokémon is really fun and exciting. This is also different from what I usually do, therefore it's refreshing, and I appreciate the opportunity. Pokémon are created with much love, I hope everyone will like this key art!
