The Pokémon Championships 2023-24 Malaysia will start with an online qualifying phase, after which all qualified winners will face each other in an offline tournament to crown our Champion!

Important information for participants

  • Your “Location and Age Division” will be based on your Battle Stadium settings of the same name.
  • Only players who have set their Battle Stadium Location as "Malaysia" will be eligible to qualify for the “Pokémon Championships 2024 Malaysia” competition.
  • Only one user per Nintendo Account may participate. If you are playing both Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games on a single Nintendo Account, please only use either of them to enter the competition. A single Nintendo Account may only receive one Pokémon Championships 2024 Malaysia invite as a reward for top placement in the competition. Additionally, please note that entering the competition with multiple Nintendo Accounts would be considered an infringement of the fairness of the competition, and that any player caught doing so will receive a penalty.
  • Players qualified for and participating in the Pokémon Championships 2024 Malaysia Main Competition will need to show that their Battle Stadium “Location and Age Division” settings from the Qualifiers Online Competition match the information on their personal identification documents. Players whose in-game settings and personal identification documents do not match will be immediately disqualified.
  • Only for players residing in Malaysia.

  • Games: Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet
  • Divisions: Open division – players of all ages compete together.
  • Rules and format: Regulation F(qualifier)/Regulation G (main competition), Double Battle.
  • To be eligible, a Pokémon must either have been caught in Pokémon Scarlet, Pokémon Violet or The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, hatched from an egg, obtained from an official event distribution, or transfered from Pokémon HOME.

How to enter:
(Main Competition)
In order to be eligible for an invite to the Main Competition, players must satisfy the conditions below:

  • Your ‘Battle Stadium’ Location must be set as Malaysia.
  • Your ‘Battle Stadium’ Age Division settings must match your actual date of birth.

Eligible players who have qualified for the Main Competition will be notified via an email sent by The Pokémon Company to the email address recorded in that player’s Nintendo Account. Qualified players will need to reply to that email to formally confirm their intent to attend the event.

Before participating in this competition, please check the following:

  • The email address registered in your Nintendo Account
  • Your “Location and Age Division” settings in Battle Stadium and correct them if necessary.

Please note that we will not be able to deal with individual requests regarding misregistered e-mail addresses or Location & Age Division settings.

Results notification (Qualifiers) Players who have passed the qualifiers will receive an invitation at the e-mail address registered on their account.

Important information for the Main Competition

About Registration A participation registration request email will be sent exclusively to players who have qualified through the Qualifier held before the Main Competition.
An official competition invite will exclusively be sent in-game on the Pokémon Scarlet or Pokémon Violet save file of players who have qualified through the Qualifier AND have also completed their participation registration before the deadline.
Players who have not received the in-game invite will not be able to participate in this competition.
Among players who have received the in-game invite, only players who have registered a Battle Team before the deadline will be able to participate in this competition.
* If a player's email address on their Nintendo Account does not match the email address used for their participation registration, they may be disqualified.
* If a player's in-game Trainer Name on the save file they used to qualify through the Qualifier does not match the Trainer Name they used for their participation registration, they may be disqualified.
Things to know for the day of the event Participants must bring document that can prove their identity and their residence in Malaysia.
Players who are unable to prove their residence may be disqualified.
Players who do not check-in within the dedicated time may receive a game loss or be disqualified.
Competition Structure Single Elimination Best-of-3
Note-taking Pre-written notes are not allowed. The use of electronic devices during matches is also prohibited. Using a pen and paper to take notes during matches is allowed. However, these will not be supplied at the venue and you should bring your own.
Battle Team Information Each participant's Battle Team will be published and visible to all inside the venue as Open Team Sheets.
Tournament Brackets The tournament brackets will show players' names submitted during participation registration.
The brackets will be displayed inside the venue as well as in Pokémon HOME.

About Travel Awards

Players who receive Travel Awards will have their flight and accommodation for the Pokémon World Championships 2024 paid for and arranged by The Pokémon Company. Barring any special circumstances, all travel details – including the round trip flight tickets and hotel – will be chosen by The Pokémon Company. Note that if an eligible player still decides to arrange anything themselves, The Pokémon Company will not cover any cancellation or modification fees for reservations made by players.

Worlds Spots

There are 8 spots for players from Malaysia at the 2024 Pokémon World Championships, which is 4 more spots than last year.
Worlds Invites can only be obtained by placing among the top players at the Pokémon Championships 2024 Malaysia Main Competition.
